At Scenic, we strive to create positive change through sustainable practices and forming rich relationships with communities.

Partnerships are central to our ethos. Our Cherish the Planet program reinforces our commitment to environmentally responsible tourism and protecting the places and communities we visit.

We aim to leave as small a footprint as possible while proudly forming positive and enriching associations with the communities we visit.

Created in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), our Cherish the Planet program has six key focus areas, each with defined priorities and established benchmarks for improvement.
 

Addressing CO2 Emissions

We are committed to designing and operating our ships in an efficient and more sustainable way, thereby reducing the impact of fuel consumption on the environment. We have engaged the services of Ecollective, an independent third-party organization, to calculate the average carbon footprint of our guests and assist in setting achievable targets.
 

Grow from Within – Value Diversity

The people at Scenic Group are at the very core of what makes our journeys truly memorable. We value diversity and currently employ over 50 nationalities from across the globe. We believe it is a strength to have different perspectives and that it helps us find the best solutions and services for our guests. At Scenic, we treat all crew and employees equally, independent of gender, sexual orientation, age, race, or religion.
 

Growing with Communities

We are committed to meaningful and respectful cultural interactions and are proud of the positive associations that we have built within communities all around the world. In consultation with local leaders and in accordance with internal accreditations, we aim to include at least one Cherish the Planet experience in each itinerary. Our goal is to ensure local businesses benefit from our visit as we work together towards a sustainable future.
 

Advocate, Health, Safety & Security

We have created an engaging workplace that supports the well-being of our staff by prioritizing health and safety. Moreover, we've implemented staff training through Scenic Group Academy. Via periodic training offered in our e-learning platform, we can ensure every staff member is fully immersed in our Cherish the Planet ethos.
 

Sourcing Sustainably

Where feasible or possible, fresh produce is sourced from local markets and the on board herb garden (available on selected ships). Our goal is to source sustainably to support the communities we visit and avoid the extensive footprint of food storage and transportation. We have developed sustainable procurement guidelines to ensure all staff and stakeholders are compliant.
 

Reducing our Waste

As we constantly look at new ways to reduce our waste, we are proud to have been working to eliminate single-use plastics on board – all our ships are already over 95% single-use guest plastic free, which so far means we have removed more than 2 million* plastic bottles from use.
