Once a Viking-era fishing village, Alesund is a seaport for the municipality and Sunnmore district today. Alesund is the home base for Norway’s largest cod-fishing fleet. Many restaurants offer various fresh seafoods on their menus. The village’s backdrop is one of the most amazing sites of Alesund.
